Fair time
We enjoyed our yearly visit to the fair with our friends. We spent some time watching cows being judged and visited the other animal barns. The kids got to pet chickens, rabbits, and goats. We also had lunch there with the now traditional cotton candy for dessert. One exciting new twist this year was seeing the drawing Nora entered in the fair. She won a second prize ribbon. Here are the big kids standing next to her picture. Western goldfinch and sunflowers.

Two months old
We started the day off with speeches and trumpeting in her honor. Penny is a pretty mellow baby. She fusses some in the evenings, the way babies often do, but isn't colicky. She finds the pacifier insulting but would love to suck on her fingers if they would only hold still. She smiles and coos at us now which we all love. She slept a few five hour stretches after 6 weeks and this week has had several six-hour long sleeps. Yay! She has fallen asleep in her bed on her own a few times. We love our baby.

Into the Woods
After the wedding the family (minus the bride and groom) spent a few days at a house we rented near Cascade. We tried fishing in the two reservoirs nearby. The kids liked reeling the line in best. They weren't patient enough to wait for fish to bite. We played many games of Mölkky. Ben and Kathleen stopped by on their way back to Boise and spent Sunday afternoon with us. We ate so much food. The kids loved making s'mores and roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. There was much fun had by all the little cousins.

Ben and Kathleen
Mark's youngest brother got married this summer. The last time everyone on this side of the family was together was three years ago. John and Katie met Helena for the first time and we finally got to meet their son Liam.
Mark grilled food for the rehearsal dinner.Cousins enjoying their meal.Nora and her cousin Emily were flower girls. They did a great job. Mark's mom made the flower girl outfits and coordinating skirts for all the granddaughters. She even made a tiny dress for Penny.
