A Fun Saturday
Yesterday Penny spent a quiet day at home and the others were out and about. In the morning Mark took the big kids to Lowe's for one of their building workshops. No photos from the actual event since he was busy assisting with assembly. When they got home they went right to work on making Valentine cards.
After lunch my mom and I went with them to a local high school production of The Music Man.
We had a lovely time. The show was great. They've seen the movie version so the story was familiar, but a live performance has a special appeal. And they had an orchestra, which I like, and the real marching band came in for the finale.
Then pizza for dinner and some exciting chapters of Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates before bed.

Science Experiment
I had seen and bookmarked a post on microwaving Ivory soap and we gave it a try. It was fun, the soap puffed up impressively.
It deflates pretty quickly and the soap feels dry and papery to the touch.
The only drawback was that all of the perfumes in the bar were released. I don't think of Ivory as being very heavily scented, but our house (and for several days the microwave) had a sickly sweet smell. If we do this again it will be in the summer when we can open the windows.

Visiting
The girls and I drove over to Idaho to visit with Lydia and Lauren (and their parents) for a day. They were staying with family before their move to Hawaii! I'm not sure we'll get there to see them, so we jumped at the chance while they were in the area.
Penny is about 6 weeks older than Lauren and Helena is two days younger than Lydia. Soon these girls will be four!
We had such a good time. On our way home we stopped for sustenance in Dayton at Ray's Drive-In since I had heard good things about their milkshakes for years. The cherry one we tried was very tasty.
