Helena : 6 months

Helena had her six month check-up on Tuesday morning. She is a little over 25 inches tall (63 cm, 25th percentile) and weighs 10 lbs, 13.5 oz (4.93 K). This is a little less than she weighed two months ago and a few ounces more than she weighed at two months. We have started supplementing with formula. She took to the bottle without any fussing. Our Dr. isn't panicking since Henry fell off of the growth curves as a baby, but is watching the situation. We'll go back in a few weeks for a weight check. We are going to wait until she is growing before feeding more solids since they aren't as calorie-dense as milk.

She has no teeth yet, is good at using her hands to grab things and still likes to suck her fingers. Here is a video from the beginning of August of her sucking her toe. Neither of the other kids were as interested in their feet as she is in hers.

County Fair

We had a busy weekend with Grace and Ian here for a sleepover on Friday night, Mimmu's birthday dinner on Saturday, followed by a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Sunday and Monday. They left Tuesday morning and we went to the fair with Grace and Ian.
The girls this year And last yearIt was much cooler than usual this year which made walking around more pleasant. We saw pigs, sheep, cows, goats, rabbits, chickens and assorted other poultry. Nora was brave enough to pet a goat and two chickens this year. The petting barn had a donkey and a pile of seven sleeping piglets. We collected various souvenirs (combs, balloons, back scratchers, coloring books) and looked at the exhibits. Congratulations to our friends Opal, Lian, and Nathaniel for being the owners of the Grand Champion pumpkin! We had a combination picnic/fair food lunch (the kids ate fries and vegetables). And for our after meal treat we had cotton candy.

A new adventure: food

Helena tried a few bites of watermelon on Saturday and really enjoyed it. Today she had a tablespoon of rice cereal.

Clarification

Yesterday at the breakfast table Nora was spinning her teacup. I told her not to play with her food. "This isn't food, it is a drink. A beverage."

Minnow

Friday was the final day of swimming lessons and was spent playing. Nora still doesn't relax completely when being floated, but she made a lot of progress these two weeks. We'll probably take lessons again next summer.
