Babywearing II

I've moved from the sling to a wrap and so have the children.

Snack time

Nora wanted to make cookies today, but I found this recipe that we tried instead.

Double Chocolate Yogurt Muffins

3/4 packed cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
1 cup vanilla flavored or plain yogurt
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 3/4 cup all purpose (or whole wheat pastry) flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate or bittersweet chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a muffin tin with paper muffin cups.

Stir brown sugar and butter together in a medium size bowl. Add yogurt, egg and vanilla and stir until thoroughly blended.

Combine flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder in a large mixing bowl. Add yogurt mixture to flour mixture, stirring only until blended. Fold in chocolate chips. Spoon batter into greased muffin tins and bake for 22-25 minutes.

Makes 12

Helena was not offered a muffin and had to eat this "elephant" instead.

Ballet Recital

Nora's ballet recital was Saturday night. It went very well, especially since she performed about an hour and a half after her bedtime. It was held at the park and the weather was perfect. Nora danced by our blanket to all the other music while we were waiting for her turn. Her class was 53rd out of 54 performances. Here they are lining up to go on stage.

This is Nora during the practice.

Nora's solo bit at the evening performance.

Frivolity

While on vacation the ladies found an antique store that turned out to be full of costume jewelry. The proprietor is known for her extensive selection. We had a lot of fun browsing. There were hundreds of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and brooches in every color.

Vacation

We are back from our trip to the Oregon coast. The kids had a great time playing on the beach even though the weather was a little cool.We went to Seaside and fed the seals at the aquarium. It was raining so we didn't spend any time walking around the town.
Lunch at a seafood restaurant. Nora and Henry really enjoyed the saltines.Visiting the Tillamook cheese factory. The kids both chose chocolate ice cream out of all their options.
We took a steam train ride to another little town.Helena taking a nap in her wrap.
